super late entry (1)

Heyhey..felt like blogging so here i am! Actually this post was meant to be posted the day after national day but u know some things just had to happen. i was happily blogging blogging blogging and my sis told me to copy and paste it in msword just in case blogger ps me. then i was like' yah yah' but didnt do it. And then... the internet explorer really cocked up, u know 'this program has encountered a problem and has to close', and tadaa..my 800 odd blog post is just gone like that. After this i was so pissed that i didnt wanna blog anymore. ><" u know sometimes u need to have the urge to blog then can blog one? yeah..so now i feel it! thus im blogging!

Okay..now about national day. hahs..stayed home and tuned into channel 5 to view the NDP at the national stadium. I watched the parade and was awed by how uniformly the parade contingents could march! Well, this was something i could never achieve with my squad. yi han yi han....it's like how many drills i have with them is just not sufficient. coz those people keep making the same mistakes and somehow they just cant seem to march together. haiz..weird. And some of them just hated drills..don't understand why coz i missed the times i was marching. hehz! so yes, i so love the parade segment and especially the marchpast where they contingents had to salute! so shuai!! oh..the parade commander was good too! hahas..i just like commanding and doing drills (that is if the squad isn't so problematic!>.<) sigh..that was the good ol' days..

Anyway, i didnt watch the rest of the ND programme coz i really cant get myself to appreciate the acts (act1,act2 etc). I've really tried for the past years but i really could make out the beauty of the performances. oh well... and after that, i got down to think of what national day mean to me. i remembered the first meeting with the ND comm members and teachers. Ms Sabariah asked each of us to say what national day means to us and due to the impromptu-ness, i said something like it is a time for us to commemorate our nation's birthday and it serves as a reminder for us to think back on how our forefathers contributed to the building of our nation. Quite cliche lah..but that was what i thought of off the top of my head. But on national day itself, i really thought about it and i think it means more than that. Yes we should remember our past but what's more important is to celebrate our success as well as to spur us on to continue striving to protect what is ours, and to move on as a nation. It's not easy definitely to have come so far and it is pertinent that we continue to achieve more. Well, im not sure how many have actually thought so much and i think some people may be cynical of what i think. They would say it's just a propaganda of the government to make the younger generation loyal to our country. Well, i guess that is just a different mindset we have. Afterall it is a fact that if the country do well, we will benefit as well.

Serious stuff aside, the ND celebration was quite a success i must say. Because as ms sabariah said, the success of the show is really, how much the audience enjoyed it and their level of response. Some 22 people said it was rather boring and it might be due to the video part. Yeah i agree that the video may be a bit draggy, but national day does not just mean having fun and just doing all the rah-rah stuff. And it is included in the guidelines that we have to include the educational part in the concert. So sorry people! But on my part, i thought it's quite interesting to view such videos. For an obvious reason that we did not experience the times of chaos and turmoil in the past, we should all the more feed out brains and soul with some of our nation's past. But i think people my age dont really care much about such stuff except for a handful. I actually watched one of the videos on my own (one that wasnt screen for the concert), and i found it quite sad. Those pictures and words just made me feel more for Singapore. It was one of the disc ms tan gave me to cut up those songs for the song guessing game. And it happened that one of the disc had videos inside and sis watched it and told me it's quite meaningful.

Anyway, things went on rather smoothly except for some glitches in the technical part. Felt
quite bad that the 2 girls in ND superstar experience some technical problems with their mics and the judges couldn't hear them well. And they were quite disappointed..i mean who wouldnt? They sort of blamed us for the glitch and im not sure if they got a third placing for that.>.<>

Ooh..and we took a group photo after the whole event but i seriously cant get it uploaded here. maybe i'll try friendster.

i feel good!
